Introduction to Art Quilting
This is the FIRST of three classes in the ART QUILT SERIES. The others are Finishing your Textile Creation and From Inspiration to Quilt – Designing your Own.
In this 2-Day class you will create an art quilt top with the use of fabrics as an expressive medium.
You will use one of your choice of the teacher’s patterns and will learn how to create templates, for that pattern, and then use them to create a stunning Art Quilt Top. With guidance, you will choose fabrics in the correct colors and values to get the right results. In addition you will be introduced to a number of very easy Machine Applique techniques. Depending on the pattern you choose, these may be “turned edge”, “raw edge without fusing”, “free edge”, or a combination or two or more.
In addition, the teacher will introduce you to a stabilizer for appliqué work that is lightweight and flexible but stabilizes the quilts in an amazing manner. The teacher will provide your chosen pattern and the stabilizer.
