From Inspiration to Quilt – Designing your Own (2-3 Day Workshop)
This class is for beginners as well as advanced students. In this 2-Day class you will learn a number of tools to enable you to design amazing and exceptional quilts.
We will start our journey by exploring the use of Value as the key to creating exceptional art quilts. Students will see Value in a new way and will be able to apply it to the creation and enhancement of their work.
Next, we will review a very easy and fool-proof “raw edge” machine appliqué technique using a simple pattern provided by the teacher. There are many to choose from. Bunnies, fruit, flowers and others.
Finally, using these new techniques, and with your own inspirational original photograph, you will continue on the journey of an art quilter by learning how to create a pattern to convert this photo into fabric art. We will explore picture composition, how to give your selection perspective, depth, 3-dimensionality, and how to enhance your focal point.
You will also learn to proportionately enlarge your drawing and prepare templates for your fabric art piece.

The teacher will provide the “perfect gray scale” fabric used in the Value step, and pattern and stabilizer used in the machine appliqué exercise.
