From Inspirational Photo to Quilt – How to Create the Pattern
Grace will provide a kit containing the photo and the full sized pattern used in the exercises, her Value Matching Tool and Periodic Value in Color Chart.

- A few clear acetate write-on transparency sheets (8 1/2″x11″) commonly used for transparency making for overhead projectors
- A few of your favorite photos enlarged to 8 ½ x 11 (page size) for discussion. In these photos please keep the subject matter in the photos very simple (one focal point and a simple background). Look for pictures/photos with good contrast and value, and clear lines and shapes. Choose those that are not too dark so that you can see details easily.
- Board – Foam Core 20″ x 30″
- Freezer paper roll – 18″ wide
- Masking Tape
- Pens – Extra Fine “Sharpie”, black permanent marker, Fine point, one black, and ballpoint. Colored highlighters in various colors.
- Pencils – 1 red and one regular black pencil
- Wite-Out Correction Fluid
- T- Pins
- 22″ Quilting Ruler
- Scissors – paper
- Vinyl – clear such as a painter’s drop cloth or clear vinyl table covering 2 Mil. Approximately 30″ x 40″. Best is the 2 mil. Painter’s drop cloth as it is thin enough to see through and work with. Can be bought at any hardware or building supply store.
